Having been teased for some time now, Marvel Comics (via NY Daily News) have officially announced new details on their upcoming comic event Civil War II, a follow-up to the 2007 event by Mark. Following the death of War Machine, a second hero dies as part of Marvel's big comic book storyline.

Brian Michael Bendis, who wrote The New Avengers tie-in issues for the original Civil War event, stated that he only agreed to write the sequel after Mark Millar and Steve McNiven, the creators of the original Civil War event, turned the offer to write the sequel.In an interview with the New York Daily News, Brian Michael Bendis and Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso revealed that the idea for Civil War II was conceived at one of Marvel's semi-annual editorial retreats. They also discussed the premise for the event with Bendis explaining that 'People's personal accountability is the theme of this one.
